How did you first get involved with LETR?
I first got involved with the LETR in London, Ontario during our Canada Day Torch Run. Once I attended this event and saw all the athletes with their positive outlook, I knew I was hooked.

What has kept you involved in LETR to this day?
The athletes are the main reason why mostly everyone partakes in the LETR, being able to experience these events and opportunities with the athletes is so rewarding. Even after a bad day at work, I know my day will get so much better if I'm headed to an LETR event because I will be surrounded by positivity and caring hearts.

What does Special Olympics mean to you?
Special Olympics has a special place in my heart. I have been involved with Special Olympics in some sort of way since high school. I was so thrilled to be able to join Best Buddies in school and carry that forward to today. Being able to witness people with all levels of abilities come together and play sports is touching. No matter the level of skill, these athletes work together and always cheer on one another. Special Olympics to me, means joy, friendship and bravery.

What is your favourite memory (or memories) during your involvement with LETR/SO?
My favourite memory during my involvement with the LETR is always when I am with the athletes. During the summer of 2022, the LETR London chapter, went to various golf courses to sell tickets for our Helicopter Golf Ball Drop. During this time, myself and another Torch Run member were paired with two athletes. It was a very quiet start until we broke out the music. To say we had fun was an understatement. We weren't only listening to music; we were having a full-on dance party! It was at this moment I knew this was going to be a great memory. We were singing, and dancing, and didn't have a care in the world, the athletes even got some of the patrons involved! It's memories like this that make me continue to be involved in the LETR every day.

Why should others get involved with the LETR?
More people should get involved in the LETR because being with the athletes is a rewarding feeling. You can build so many new friendships and are constantly surrounded by happiness.
