Over $2,4000 was raised for Special Olympics Ontario by the North Bay Battalion, and the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR).
Altogether, $2,454.10 was raised.
The Battalion hosted the event during Sunday’s 4-3 victory over the Niagara IceDogs. Part of the games festivities included a LETR/Special Olympics run kiosk where fans could learn about the initiatives. Conducted during the game was the annual “Pass the Bucket” which raised the majority of the funds.
Law enforcement from the North Bay Police Service, Military Police, OPP, Canadian anti-Fraud Centre, Anishnabek Police, and the District Jail were all in attendance as well.
For the month of November, an online 50/50 draw is taking place with all the funds to go to Special Olympics Ontario. The winning ticket will be drawn at the Ontario Hockey League office on Monday (December 2).
The awareness campaign is part of the ongoing commitment by the Ontario Hockey League, the North Bay Battalion, and LETR/Special Olympics Ontario to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Ontario.
