Bikers roar in support of Special Olympics Ontario

It would be difficult to ignore the rumbling of about 20 motorcycles roaring through the city's South End.

And that's the point of the motorcycle torch run — to raise awareness of the more than 23,000 athletes with an intellectual disability.

Sgt. Joanne Pendrak said the Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run is made up of many people, some of whom don't like to run, but they do like to ride their bikes.

“To show their support, they formed the torch ride five years ago in Niagara Falls,” she said. “Three years ago, we held our first ride here in Sudbury, with about 20 riders that first yea. This year , we again have about 20 riders.”
